The Temple Beth El Arts Committee invites everyone to view the congregational art show, newly installed in the social hall.  The exhibit includes the work of twelve of our community members and will remain on view through the high holidays. Sales from the exhibit will benefit TBE cultural activities.

Temple Beth El Arts Committee
The Temple Beth El Arts Committee is a group of fun loving people who greatly enjoy the arts and want to bring them to the Ithaca Jewish community. The goal is to enrich the lives of our congregants and to open our doors to the general community. Our committee is ten years old and in that time we have established a number of annual events.

The Chanukah Festival includes original art and crafts for sale, live music, delicious food and craft activities for children. It is held a few weeks before the holiday in conjunction with the Sisterhood book fair.

The Evening of Jewish Storytelling, Music and Poetry, occurs in mid-winter, on a Saturday night. Here we try to recreate an old-world style evening of shared stories and songs. We encourage participation from individuals throughout the community and welcome folks of all ages. Refreshments are served.

The Jewish Film Festival happens in March at Cornell Cinema. Our committee chooses the films, helps support the event financially, and hosts the Sunday morning screenings with free bagels and coffee.

Spring Art Exhibits. Each year, our committee mounts a show in the temple social hall. These are group shows, one-person exhibits and exhibits of historical or social interest.

In addition, we have hosted numerous concerts over the years including Twelve Corners Klezmer Ensemble; Joel Rubin, klezmer clarinetist; the Ithaca Children's Choir in "Ruach;" the Cornell Middle Eastern and Mediterranean Music Ensemble and the Ithaca Community Chorus.

We welcome your comments, suggestions and participation. Join us and help to create a vital arts environment at Temple Beth El. Email Marjorie Hoffman here.
