Sample Bequest Text

The following are samples of text that can be used to make bequests to Temple Beth-El.

Unrestricted bequest, dollar amount:

I give, devise and bequeath  _____________dollars ($_________) to Temple Beth-El of Ithaca, New York .

Unrestricted bequest, percentage of residue:

I give, devise and bequeath  ________ % of all the rest, residue and remainder of my estate to Temple Beth-El of Ithaca, New York .

Restricted bequests:

By adding to the sentences above, bequests can also be made to existing temple funds, or for a specified purpose.

If a specific fund or use is stated, the addition of the following language is strongly recommended to make certain that the bequest always remains productive:

“If, in the judgment of the Trustees of Temple Beth-El, changed circumstances should at some future time render the designated use of this fund no longer appropriate, then the Trustees shall direct use of the fund to further the objects and purposes of Temple Beth-El, giving consideration to my special interest as evidenced by the purpose described above.”
