Shabbat and Holidays
Shabbat Programming
Tot Shabbat
Once a month, Temple Beth-El invites our young families to join Calle for Tot Shabbat! Tot Shabbat is a joyful, interactive, sing-along celebration of Shabbat for families with preschool and early elementary-aged children. Our Tot Shabbat gatherings are festive ways to build connections with other young families as we explore Jewish tradition, celebrate the end of the week, and welcome the Shabbat Queen with music, laughter, and community!
Likrat Shabbat
Beginning in the fall of 2025, Likrat Shabbat is a monthly gathering designed for families with children in 3rd-6th grade. Through engaging learning, creative activities, and community building, families welcome Shabbat with intention, and ruach (spirit) before joining the congregation for a lively Kabbalat Shabbat service. Likrat Shabbat offers families the opportunity to connect with Jewish traditions and embrace the joy of Shabbat together!
Both Tot Shabbat and Likrat Shabbat conclude with delicious kosher dinners! All Ithaca families are welcome to join us, and there is no cost associated with these events. If you’re interested in learning how to sponsor a Tot Shabbat/Likrat Shabbat dinner, email Calle, our Director of Education and Engagement.
Holiday Programming
Jewish holiday events are a key part of our slate of family programs. Throughout the year, we offer a variety of engaging programs that bring the holidays to life, helping families celebrate, learn, and grow together in a warm and welcoming community. Our holiday programs provide opportunities for both children and adults to deepen their understanding of Jewish traditions while building connections with one another. Some examples from past years include:
Brunch & Learn in the Sukkah
Chanukah Family Mixer
Tu BiShevat Seder
Community Purim Carnival
Family Se’udot (festive holiday meals)
and more!
Through our holiday programs, we strive to make Jewish traditions accessible, engaging, and meaningful for every family. Whether you are looking for hands-on celebrations, spiritual connections, or learning opportunities, we invite you to join us in making each holiday a joyful and enriching experience.
